Jordan has welcomed the inaugural flight of yet another low-cost European airline now servicing the kingdom – Transavia. The Netherlands-based carrier, owned by Air France-KLM Group, made its debut in the Jordanian market beginning with a route from Lyon, France to Amman.
The arrival of Transavia is only the latest development in a deliberate strategy by Jordanian tourism officials to lure more low-cost European airlines to Jordan, along with the millions of European holiday-goers they transport every year.
RyanAir launched 10 new routes to Amman and four to Aqaba in 2018, while adding four more to Amman in 2019. EasyJet also added two flights to Aqaba to its route map last year, while as did Norwegian Airlines as well.
