A new 250-room, Hyatt-branded resort property has opened in the Pyramids Heights Business Park, just southeast of Sheikh Zayed City and northeast of 6th October City. While not exactly ideal for touristic visitors, given that a car ride would still be needed to go anywhere from the grounds, the opening adds much needed new hotel room inventory to the Giza Plateau area in advance of the expected opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum next year.
The last time the Hyatt brand adorned the Cairo skyline was when the international hotel chain managed the iconic set of buildings along the Nile in central Cairo that included the famous rotating restaurant on top of the taller tower and a Hard Rock Cafe embedded en the lower tower. A change in ownership of the property led to the withdrawal of all alcohol from the premises, Hyatt’s departure soon thereafter, and a rebranding of the buildings from the Grand Hyatt to the Grand Nile Tower, which remains one of the few large dry hotels in greater Cairo.
