The low-cost Turkish air carrier AnadoluJet, owned by Turkish Airlines, has completed its rebranding and transition to a new name – AJet Air Transportation, or AJet. The airline formally began operations as AJet on March 31, 2024 and previously ticketed AnadoluJet passengers were notified that their bookings would remain valid on the new successor carrier.
AnadoluJet launched in 2008 as a low-cost alternative to the more upscale Turkish Airlines product and service. In 2020, AnadoluJet took over Turkish Airlines’ routes into and out of Sabiha Gökçen International Airport, Istanbul’s secondary airport located on the Asian side of the city.
In February 2023, Turkish Airlines announced the rebranding of AnadoluJet to AJet, and by November of the same year it showcased its new livery and branding. The subsidiary obtained its air operator’s certificate in January 2024 and it began selling tickets under the new name for flights starting March 31, 2024.
Like its predecessor, AJet will continue to focus on the leisure market traveling to short- and medium-haul destinations. The company already has scheduled service to 93 destination and aims to eventually provide service to 44 countries within a decade.
Speaking about the rebranding and transition, Turkish Airlines Chairman Ahmet Bolat said, “We fully believe that AJet, with its new name, will become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale.”
Aircraft painting is more than a mere change in colour. It serves as a powerful means of communication. The colours and design represent the corporate identity of the airlines.
