The Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) has announced the completion of four new Saudi history and heritage museums to be opened around the kingdom in 2020. These will be the first of 13 new cultural museums slated to be established in Saudi Arabia as part of the country’s National Transformation Program 2020.
The four completed museums include:
- a 7,000-square-metre, SR 31-million complex in Asir,
- a 12,000-square-metre, SR 61-million complex in Jouf,
- a 12,854-square-metre, SR 65.6-million complex in Tabuk, and
- a 11,000-square-metre, SR 66.5-million complex in Hail.
SR 24 million ($59.7 million) in total have been invested in the four projects, according to the announcement. The commission expects more than 1,000 permanent jobs to be created to handle operations, marketing, and events at the new facilities.
